Aunt MiMi's
Triumph
©1999 (81" x 81")
Machine pieced using Debra Wagner's
Striplate piecing
technique; hand appliquéd,
and hand quilted.
Hobbs Heirloom Wool batting.
This quilt took more than three
years to
complete, not
because of the difficult piecing,
but because I became
bored with it. The top was put on
the back burner,
until I needed a quilt for
competition, and it was the
closest to finished! The title is a
play on the name
of the traditional block "Whig's
Defeat". I completed
the hand quilting for this quilt
after suffering a
torn ligament in my right shoulder.
I decided, while
quilting through pain, that this
quilt would not be my
defeat but my Triumph!
(I'm known
as "Aunt MiMi" by my niece
and nephews.)
